I wish people wouldn’t just see me as the Asian girl who beats everyone up, or the Asian girl with no emotion. People see Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock in a romantic comedy, but not me. You add race to it, and it became, ‘Well she’s too Asian’, or ‘She’s too American’. I kind of got pushed out of both categories. It’s a very strange place to be. You’re not Asian enough and then you’re not American enough.

I wish you luck on your exams and I hope you find what you really want to do. I'm cheering for you! ^^

My ancestry

I asked my father about my ancestors(on his side since he comes from the Lee’s and my mother doesn’t have much on her side, which is cho). If you did not know, the top three last names in Korea are Kim, Lee and Park (Kim being the most prominent).

Interesting fact: Park’s and Kang’s are mainly the one’s with the generals and army officials. Also, a lot of Park’s and Kang’s tend to carry a lot of strong facial features like their general ancestors.

Well anyways. The Lee my father descends from is from the Gyeongju clan. That Lee is the oldest Lee because it was already made 5,000 years before the Joseon Era(which if you didn’t know is one of the longest lasting dynasties in Korea) During those 5,000 years, pretty much everyone was their own King if you were in that clan. There wasn’t that big of a ruling but there was a lot of nobility and hierarchy. But as Joseon came around, the founder was from our clan, he just took our Lee and formed a new hanja of it. Some changed but many stayed around and continued to be in the Gyeongju clan. The new Joseon era Lee’s, which is the Lee of the founder and king of Joseon, was called or is called the Jeonju clan. Although during the Joseon Era my ancestors were not kings, they were all politicians, noble men, etc etc, and lived in the palace. My father said there was no such thing as an aristocrate in my family because they were not even of high ranking. Lol, I asked because of Lee Junki… ^^ Anyways, so that was my really old ancestors.

My grandfather, who passed away before I ever saw him, was a noble(I forgot what he was after my dad told me…. but whatever). Apparently he had this hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee palace thing or whatever and it was where all gatherings and what not was held. But you know all that hierarchy crap is gone now.

But the recent famous Lee’s from my clan is the founder of Samsung, the former CEO of Samsung, and the 10th President of South Korea(if you do not know, the previous president from Park Geun Hye). That means I’m a chaebol lol jk wut that doesnt even make sense.

Anyways, I thought that was really interesting that I come from that kind of history. I’m a history freak… so… I just think my family history is interesting and can’t wait to go to Korea because my dad’s family has an entire graveyard dedicated to the Gyeongju clan where most of our ancestors are buried. And as my father says, where he, my brother, and I will be buried lol ok dad. Ugh, and his family goes there every year to celebrate our ancestry and stuff ughhhh i want to goooooo.

But isn’t that interesting? I’ve always wanted to know my ancestry and never got around to ask about it thoroughly till today.

I’m getting the 2007 Volkswagen beetle!

I’m going to cry… Like that has been my dream car since like 9th grade and I’m finally getting it! EEEEP. The owner of where I work owns one and she just got it but she only got it just to say she owned it and it’s in pristine condition and everything and she let me try it out. oh…my…gosh… it’s so cute omg crying.

So when I came into work the next day she told me that she’ll sell it to me in the summer and that she won’t use it so much so she doesn’t put too many miles on it for me.

Omg, my dream is coming true! Hopefully she’ll cut down the price to like $5,000-$6000 since she got it for $8,000. I told my dad about it and he said I’m getting it! My mom wants me to pay for it but I hardly have enough to buy it myself so I’m asking for it for my 18th birthday present in June. And my dad doesn’t want me to use any of the money I’ve been earning cause he told me if I want to join a sorority, he wants me to pay my dues for the first semester or so. WHICH IM FINE WITH EXCEPT I WANT CLOTHES. uGH CAN NOT FREAKING WAIT.

Life is slowly coming into place.
